These are the descendants of Thomas Tileston who was born in 1611 in England, a grantee of land in Dorchester, Massachusetts, in 1634, and died June 16, 1694. He was descended from a family by the name of Tilston, of Tilston in Chesire, England. The earliest ancestor known was Nicholas de Tilston, lord of the Manor of Tilston, from whom descended Nicholas de Tilston in the ninth year of Edward III, whose grandson and heir, Roger Tilston, Esquire, fought at Agincourt in 1415, in the reign of Henry V, and married Catharine, second daughter of Sir John Leigh, of Cheshire. His son and heir, Thomas Tilston, married Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Hugh Heath of Huxley in the same county. On Huxley Hall is the shield of arms of Tylston with seven quarterings. The hall was a fine old moated mansion. Tilston, Cheshire County, is a village, township, and parish, three miles northwest of Malpas.
