     John Q. Bither was born on 15 February 1867 at Linneus, Aroostook, Maine.1 He was the son of Major W. Bither. He married Harriet A. Stewart, daughter of William Stewart and Ann Allison, on 1 June 1893 at Linneus.1 He married Melzena R. Shields on 16 March 1898.1 He died on 24 January 1943 at Portland, Cumberland, Maine, at age 75.1
