Cilley's Store
Mark Cilley, May 1998

Located in the town of Plymouth Notch, Vermont just off of Route 100A about a mile East of the junction of Route 100 and Route 100A. at Plymouth Union.

President Calvin Coolidge was born in this store on July 4, 1872. At that time it was owned by his parents Col. and Mrs. John Coolidge. Florence Cilley bought the store from Col. John Coolidge and moved here in 1912 and operated the store until 1945, when her adopted daughter, Violet, and husband, Herman Pelkey, bought it and restored it to the period of August 3, 1923 when Calvin Coolidge received the phone call that informed him that he had won the election.
