Joseph D. Cilley was born on 27 September 1793 at Epping, Rockingham, New Hampshire.1 He was the son of Eliphalet Cilley and Dolly Shaw.1 He married Nancy Maloon, daughter of Jeremiah Maloon and Nabby Thomas, on 23 February 1822.1 He died in April 1867 at age 73.1
