John Cilley was born on 6 June 1699.1 He was the son of Captain Thomas Cilley and Ann Stanyan.1 He married Elizabeth E. Glidden, daughter of John Glidden and Elizabeth Ladd, on 9 August 1725 at Hampton Falls, Rockingham, New Hampshire.2,1 He married Hannah Knight, daughter of Nathan Knight and Mary Westbrook, on 16 November 1739.2 He died circa 1765 at Scarboro, Cumberland, Maine.3
John Cilley was also known as John Sellea.1 He resided before 1735 at Hampton, New Hampshire.1 He resided after 1735 at Biddeford, Maine.1
Resided in Hampton until 1734-5, when he removed to Biddeford. Was a mill owner and farmer. Many of John's descendants continue to spell their name SELLEA.1
