Jonathan Hubbard Cilley was born on 14 August 1916 at Westminster, Maryland.2 He was the son of Raymond Cilley and Althea Elnora Russell.1,2 He married Dorothy Ann Nicholas on 24 August 1940.2 He died on 18 November 2005 at Willow Grove, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, at age 89.1

Jonathan graduated from Wheaton College, Ill. in 1938 after receiving a graduate degree in 1947 from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He joined the faculty in the Biochemistry Dept. at Temple University, School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., where he retired in 1984.2
