     Horace Baxter Cilley was born on 5 April 1817 at Weare, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.2 He was the son of John Cilley Jr. and Marcia Goodwin. He married Hanna Worden circa 1838 at Catherine Creek, Chemung, New York.2 He died on 4 April 1889 at Woodhull, Steuben, New York, at age 71.2 He died on 4 April 1898 at age 80.1 He was buried after 4 April 1898 at Fairview Cemetery, Osceola, Tioga, Pennsylvania.1
     
     He, with his parents, left Weare, NH abt. the middle of March 1823 and started westward on sleds. After a tedious journey of 22 days they landed in Chenango Co., NY. In his early life he was employed in building canal boats at Millport, NY. He was afterwards a carpenter and joiner and was very proficient in that line. He was a man of sound judgement and precise calculations and during his active life was much sought after.1 He resided in 1823 at New York.3
