Hazen A. Cilley1

     Hazen A. Cilley was born circa 1855 at Vermont.2 He married Annette Frances Bryant, daughter of Martin Bryant and Julia A. (?), circa 1879.3
     
     Hazen, age 12, was committed to the Vermont Reform School on February 11, 1867 for a period of 3 years, he was living in Bolton, Vt at the time. On April 14th, 1868 his grandparents came to take him home. Here is the entry of April 4th from the Annual Report of the Vermont Reform School. "This afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Segur, grandparents of Hazen Cilley, came, earnestly desiring to take the boy home with them. As they are his only friends, and have had the sole care of him from infancy, and as they appeared to have great need of him and able to provide for him, their request was granted. The boy has been here one year and two months. Is thirteen years old."4
     Hazen A. Cilley appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Bolton, Chittenden, Vermont, enumerated 27 June 1870, Hazen, age 14, born in Vermont, is a farm laborer; in the household of family William and Jennie Bohanan.2
     Hazen A. Cilley and Annette Frances Bryant appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Essex, Chittenden, Vermont, enumerated 12 June 1880, Hazen, 26, born in Vermont, a farm laborer and his wife Frances A, 30, born in Vermont, is keeping house; living in the same house but separate household of Frances' parents.5
     Hazen A. Cilley and Annette Frances Bryant appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Colchester, Chittenden, Vermont, enumerated 2 June 1900, Hazen, 49, born in Vermont, a farmer and his wife Annette, 50, born in Vermont, have been married for 21 years, no children; household members are Annettes mother, Julia A Bryant, adopted daughter Florence and a boarder George Osgood.3
     Hazen A. Cilley and Annette Frances Bryant appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Colchester enumerated 9 April 1930, Hazen, 79, born in Vermont, married since 29, no ocupation and his wife Annette, 80, born in Vermont, married since 30; they own their home valued at $5000.1
