Hastings, daughter of John Hastings and Elmira A. (?), circa 1903.^3,4 He died on 5 August 1936 at Francestown, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, at age 59.² He was buried on 8 August 1936 at No. 3 Cemetery, Francestown, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.²

Hastings appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Francestown enumerated 29 April 1910, Elgin, age 32, born in New Hampshire, is a farm laborer; his wife, Effie, is age 20, born in New Hampshire; members of their household are her mother Elmira and her husband of 4 years, Joseph Lake.⁴
     Elgin J. Cilley and Effie E. Hastings appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Marlow, Cheshire, New Hampshire, enumerated 10 March 1920, Elgin is 42, a stacker at a mill, and rents their home; his wife Effie is 30.⁶
     Elgin J. Cilley and Effie E. Hastings appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Francestown enumerated 16 April 1930, Elgin, age 52, born in New Hampshire, is a laborer at odd jobs; his wife, Effie, is age 40, born in New Hampshire; they own their home on the West End, which is valued at $500, they own a radio set.³
