Ellen J. Cilley was born on 27 May 1843 at Jericho, Chittenden, Vermont.1,2 She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Cilley and Lucretia Hill.1 She married Byron C. Ward, son of Harvey Ward and Louise Lane, on 4 January 1866 at Jericho.1 She died on 3 September 1898 at Des Moines, Polk, Iowa, at age 55.1
(Although 'The William Ward Genealogy', 1925 does say, on page 599, that Ellen J. CILLEY is the daughter of Jackson CILLEY and Lucretia HILL, it does not mention, on that page, that her father, Jackson CILLEY, is also a Ward descendant. He and Lucretia are mentioned on page 232, any children they may have had are not mentioned there; Jackson's siblings' children ARE mentioned.).1
