Mark Cilley

The Old Cilleyville Bridge, originally known as the Bog Bridge, is located in Merrimac County, N.H., in the town of Andover in the section known as Cilleyville at the junction of 4A, 11, & 4.

It spans the Pleasant Brook; one span; 19 feet; built in 1887 by Print Atwood for $522. Town lattice truss; leans due to carpenters error. Bypassed by highway in 1959. Restricted to pedestrian traffic in 1957, it is now closed to all traffic (1998) due to deterioration and apparent neglect.

The original Cilleyville Bridge was built in 1883 crossing the Blackwater River on the main road through the village, built by Print Atwood for $606 and replaced in 1909.

A project to restore the Cilleyville Bridge has been started as described in newspaper article that appeared in the Union Leader on Feb. 5, 1999. This project was completed in May 2003.
